Further information about The Weekly Law Reports

THE WEEKLY LAW REPORTS
Since precedent is a source of law second only to legislation - you cannot afford not to subscribe to The Weekly Law Reports!

Published at least 45 times a year, The Weekly Law Reports are the best way to keep up-to-date with cases heard in the Superior and Appellate Courts.

Covering the cases that really matter, which either develop the law in some way or introduce a new point of law; they are the most authoritative reports available and should always be cited in preference. All law reports published by ICLR are prepared by barristers present at the cases' hearing. The reports are sent to the judges involved for approval of the judgment, prior to publication.

The Weekly Law Reports are published in four volumes - Volumes 1a and 1b contain the cases which do not merit inclusion in The Law Reports, while Volumes 2 (January to June) and 3 (July to December) cover the cases which will subsequently be published in The Law Reports together with a note of counsel's argument. The reporters to the Council also write The WLR Daily cases and law reports for The Times.

THE LAW REPORTS
Published since 1865 The Law Reports are "the most authoritative reports" and should always be "cited in preference where there is a choice".

The distinguishing feature between The Weekly Law Reports and The Law Reports is that The Law Reports include arguments of Counsel.

The Law Reports cover cases heard in The House of Lords and Privy Council,
The Court of Appeal - Criminal and Civil Divisions,
Chancery Division,
Family Division,
Queen's Bench Division, as well as the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the ECJ.

All our reporters are barristers or solicitors and are in court for the hearing and handing down of judgment. The reports are then sent to the judges and counsel concerned for approval prior to publication.

THE INDUSTRIAL CASES REPORTS
>>Current Special Offer

The Industrial Cases Reports are our only specialist series of reports. Begun in 1972, they are the definitive series on employment law. All case reports are written by barristers or solicitors who are in court for the hearing and handing down of judgment. The texts of judgments are approved by the judges concerned. Each monthly issue appears in a distinctive red cover and includes a special section of notes on unreported cases of interest.

The reports cover cases from the Employment Appeal Tribunal and appeals to the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords, as well as cases originating in the High court, cases of special interest heard in employment tribunals and cases from the European Court of Justice.

Restrictive practices cases are also included.

We also recently introduced a new section of recent points of interest from unreported cases, which means that we now cover more cases than any other series, plus a Cumulative Index of all cases published in the ICR since it began in 1972.

Cases are listed alphabetically and by subject matter with the catchwords for ease of reference. All subscribers receive a bound volume at the year end.

Also available: The Industrial Cases Reports Cumulative Index of all the cases published in the Industrial Cases Reports since 1972. Like The Consolidated Index (see below), the ICR Index is indexed alphabetically and by subject matter for ease of reference.

Further information about The Consolidated Index

INDEXES
The Pink Index combines with the Consolidated Index and Red Index to provide up to date index matter and case details. The Red Index (as pictured opposite) is the final amalgamation of five years' worth of the quarterly Pink indexes and Consolidated Index (yearly). Used in conjunction with the Red Indexes, the Pink Index will enable you to keep up to date and find any reported case determind since 1951, according to its title or subject matter. The appropriate headings and subheadings of subject matter under which to look will be found in the Indexes. They also contain cumulative indexes of Cases, Statutes, Statutory Instruments and Overseas and European Community Enactments Judicially Considered.

The Indexes contain cases reported in The Weekly Law Reports, The Law Reports, The Industrial Cases Reports, All England Law Reports, All England Commerical Cases, All England European Cases, Criminal Appeal Reports, Lloyd's Law Reports, Local Government Reports, Road Traffic Reports and Simon's Tax Cases.

STATUTES
A few years ago HMSO changed the size of this publication from Royal Octavo to A4. In the interests of those subscribers who prefer the previous size we have continued to provide a version in Royal Octavo.

Volumes vary in number from year to year. Parts are sent to subscribers as they are printed, and invoiced with delivery of the final text part. When this is completed with tables, bound volumes are available.
