Corpus Christi College Cambridge Take ICLR Mooting Crown (2005/6 Competition)

The fifth annual ICLR Weekly Law Reports Mooting Competition at The Law Society was won by Corpus Christi College Cambridge. The final with the University of Derby was fiercely contested, with the judge Mr. Derek French commenting on the exceptionally high standards of argument and presentation that both teams displayed on the night.

Winning mooters Alvin Cheung and Rebecca Drake were delighted to be adding their names to the prestigious winners shield, whilst runners up Vicky Eynon and Pauline Walker enjoyed the experience tremendously and did superbly to reach the final.

As you would expect, there was very little to choose between the teams on the night; both produced an exemplary performance at the highest level and the judge commented that both teams of mooters could look forward to wonderful careers in law.

The standard for this year’s competition was extremely high, with all participants working hard and performing admirably. There were more applicants for the 32 places than ever before with many teams citing the WLR Mooting Contest as one of the most important national competitions to be involved in.

I especially hope that all the teams who fought so bravely this time around will be back at the end of the year for the 2006/7 Competition with renewed determination and vigour.
